Community Input Meeting 9/18 with School Board Member

Residents,

Prince County Public Schools will begin the naming process of the “Potomac Shores” Middle School next week.  To further prepare for this meeting, school board member, Justin Wilk, would like to speak with residents of Potomac Shores virtually this Friday, September 18 at 7:00PM, prior to a larger county-wide input meeting scheduled for later next week.

During this meeting, Justin will seek feedback regarding the reopening of schools, as well as solicit Potomac Shores resident input regarding the naming of the new middle school.  There will be a larger meeting open to the entire county, including Potomac Shores Residents on Thursday, September 24, at 7:00PM.

A little bit about Justin Wilk:  Justin is a former teacher who has represented the district since 2016. Justin and his wife have two sons attending schools within the district, and he is actively involved in the autism community.

Notice of Exposure to a Communicable Disease

Good afternoon Potomac Shores residents,

We were informed yesterday, one of our employees at Potomac Shores has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.  The employee is currently in self-quarantine at this time and has not worked at the facility since Thursday, September 3rd.  We are sending this notification out of an abundance of caution.

If you were at the Fitness Barn on Thursday, September 3rd you may have been exposed to the virus. Please monitor your health and if you develop symptoms, please contact your health care provider for guidance.

Please know that we are following guidelines and taking every precaution to keep our employees and residents safe. Out of abundance of caution, we are closing the Fitness Barn and Social Barn today to conduct a CDC-approved cleaning today. The Shores Club will reopen as normal tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

As a reminder, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.  If you experience symptoms of respiratory illness (fever, coughing or shortness of breath), please contact your health care provided.

  • Stay home if they have respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath) and/or a temperature above 100.4 F.
  • Wear a face covering when in public areas.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, elbow, or shoulder (not the bare hands).
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
