SNOW & WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS

Dear Potomac Shores Residents,

With significant snowfall expected from Saturday night through Sunday, we wanted to share a few snow and winter weather reminders.

In Potomac Shores, snow removal is handled by three different entities depending on whether you live on a public or private street—VDOT, the Developer, or the HOA.

Click here to view the community map that identifies which roads are plowed by VDOT, the Developer, or the HOA.

Private Streets
The HOA or Developer is responsible for snow removal on all private streets, including townhome streets, condo streets, and private alleyways.

Public Streets
All other streets within the community are public, state-maintained roads, and snow removal is handled by VDOT. Residents on public streets (single-family homes) should note that VDOT prioritizes snow removal in the following order: Interstates (e.g., I-95, I-66, I-495) High-volume routes (e.g., Route 1, Prince William Parkway) Main neighborhood thoroughfares (e.g., Potomac Shores Parkway, Potomac River Blvd., River Heritage Blvd.) Residential streets Cul-de-sacs
VDOT’s stated goal is to make all roads passable within 48 hours after the storm ends. Residents are encouraged to report road conditions directly to VDOT by calling 1-800-FOR-ROAD (1-800-367-7623) or by using their plow status tool at www.vdotplows.org.

Please refer to FAQs here

• Protect your pipes:
Please make sure outdoor spigots are turned off and insulated. During very cold nights, letting faucets drip can help prevent freezing.

• Be prepared for snow or ice:
If winter weather arrives, please use extra caution when walking or driving throughout the community.

• Sidewalks:
Homeowners are responsible for shoveling the sidewalk directly in front of their homes. Clear sidewalks help keep neighbors, walkers, and delivery drivers safe. VDOT does not clear any sidewalks. The HOA will clear sidewalks at the Shores Club and Woods Rec Center.

• Ryan Homes 2/2 Condos:
The Condo Association is responsible for your sidewalks. Please contact your condo manager, Lindsey Chickering at lchickering@gocampmgmt.com for any questions.

• Trash service updates:
Winter weather may cause delays in trash and recycling service. Please watch for email updates from Management with any schedule changes.

• Parking:
If possible, please avoid parking on main roadways so snow crews can plow and treat the roads more efficiently. Please use driveways and garages when possible to allow plows full access.

• Amenities:
Announcements regarding amenity closures during snow events will be posted in the announcements section of the website at www.potomacshoresresidents.com.

• Check on neighbors:
A quick check‑in with elderly or mobility‑limited neighbors can go a long way on cold days.

We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. Thank you for helping keep our community safe, warm, and winter‑ready!
