Gym Expansion Update – January 2026

Construction on the Fitness Barn expansion is progressing, and the next phase will include foundation work, pouring the concrete slab, and beginning steel framework.

Over the next few weeks, there will be a few days of intermittent single-lane closures along Potomac Shores Parkway near the Shores Club to accommodate concrete and steel deliveries. Please use extra caution and remain attentive while driving through the area.

There will be minimal impact to the daily operations of the existing facility, and every effort will be made to reduce noise and dust. For safety reasons, please continue to avoid all construction areas that are fenced or screened off.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward with this exciting project. We will continue to share updates and look forward to unveiling the completed expansion!

NEW INTRO TO THE TRAILS HIKE!

The Trails Committee invites you to join us for a brand new Intro to the Trails hike on Saturday, December 6th, at 9 am.

We will meet at the corner of Potomac Shores Parkway and Spring Cress Drive (park on Spring Cress Drive).  We will take the Cherry Hill Trail to where it ends at Potomac River Blvd, then cross the street and take the power line trail down to where it picks up the Powells Creek Trail.  We’ll follow this to its end on Potomac River Blvd.  Then hikers will have the option to either walk up the sidewalk to their cars (the shorter route—approximately 2 miles total) or walk past the Fitness Barn and Social Barn to hop on the other half of the Cherry Hill trail (the longer route—approximately 3 miles total). Please see the route map below, or click here to view!

Please email jordan93016@icloud.com to RSVP or to ask any questions.  In the email please include: The names of hikers, ages of any hikers who are children, your cell number, and whether you would prefer the shorter or the longer hike.

We look forward to seeing you on the Trails!!

Snow Removal Reminders

Dear Residents,

Happy Holidays! As we prepare for the upcoming snow season, we would like to share some important information regarding snow removal throughout the community.

In Potomac Shores, snow removal is handled by three different entities depending on whether you live on a public or private street—VDOT, the Developer, or the HOA.

Click here to view the community map that identifies which roads are plowed by VDOT, the Developer, or the HOA.

Private Streets
The HOA or Developer is responsible for snow removal on all private streets, including townhome streets, condo streets, and private alleyways.

Public Streets
All other streets within the community are public, state-maintained roads, and snow removal is handled by VDOT. Residents on public streets (single-family homes) should note that VDOT prioritizes snow removal in the following order:

  1. Interstates (e.g., I-95, I-66, I-495)
  2. High-volume routes (e.g., Route 1, Prince William Parkway)
  3. Main neighborhood thoroughfares (e.g., Potomac Shores Parkway, Potomac River Blvd., River Heritage Blvd.)
  4. Residential streets
  5. Cul-de-sacs

VDOT’s stated goal is to make all roads passable within 48 hours after the storm ends. Residents are encouraged to report road conditions directly to VDOT by calling 1-800-FOR-ROAD (1-800-367-7623) or by using their plow status tool at www.vdotplows.org.

Please refer to FAQs here

Street Parking
To assist snowplow operations, please move any vehicles parked on the street into your driveway or garage during snow events.

Sidewalks

  • VDOT does not clear any sidewalks.
  • Homeowners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks adjacent to their homes and their driveways.
  • The HOA will clear sidewalks at the Shores Club and Woods Rec Center.

Amenities
Announcements regarding amenity closures during snow events will be posted in the announcements section of the website at www.potomacshoresresidents.com.

Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare for the winter season!
