Dominion Coal Ash Pond – Upcoming Meeting April 4th

Hello Residents,

Please be aware of an important upcoming public meeting about the Dominion Energy Coal Ash Plan. The event will be hosted by Dominion Energy and held at the following date, time and location:

  • Date: April 4th (Monday)
  • Time: 7:00 – 8:30 PM
  • Location: Potomac Shores Middle School (17851 Woods View Drive)

Virtual meeting option information and other documentation are available by following these directions:

  1. Go to https://www.dominionenergy.com/projects-and-facilities/electric-projects/coal-ash
  2. Scroll down to the section ‘What’s Happening in Your State?’ and select “Virginia”
  3. Expand the “Possum Point Power Plant” section towards the bottom of the page

You may also receive a postcard from Dominion containing this same information via mail.

Additional Background: State and federal regulations require the removal and relocation or recycling of coal ash currently stored in ‘Pond D’ at the Dominion Energy Possum Point Power Station no later than 2034. Unless strong community objection is received, Dominion’s preferred and likely plan is to relocate 4 Million Cubic Yards of ash to an on-site lined landfill adjacent to Potomac Shores (less than 1,000 feet) from homes in the Southern neighborhood.
